Ready for Jax- A Bird-Themed Baby Shower

One of my best friends, Janelle, has lived out of state since college. So when she found out last year that she was pregnant with her first child our friend, Kelly, and I knew we wanted to host her baby shower and reunite all of her hometown friends to help celebrate. Instead of having a theme for the nursery, Janelle had only decided on the colors green and brown, so I tailored the spring-inspired bird theme to fit the nursery color scheme.

Decorations:
The message cards were a pragmatic choice, serving triple duty, first, as decorations; second, as our closing activity for the shower; and, lastly, as a sweet souvenir for Janelle to take home and cherish the words of love and encouragement from all those who gathered.

To add to the thematic decorations, I found sticks in our neighborhood and assembled them in a large vase. I used my Cricut to cut out card-stock birds in coordinating colors. On the backs of each bird, I wrote either a quote or Bible verse about motherhood, children, parenting, etc...

I painted the bird houses white, put them on candlesticks to add height and wrapped green tulle around for color and texture.

The shower fell on Dr. Seuss's birthday,
so we used hardcover Dr. Seuss books to
 write on for the games.
