Ring Making Class

These pictures are from a few weeks ago, but for Ryan's Father's Day gift I signed us up for a ring making class. We got to cut, solder, polish and shape our very own rings. The girls made copper stacking bands and the guys made thicker bands out of brass.
Before polishing they looked like this.

Room by Room- Nursery

This nursery has been such a fun project. We decided very early on that we were not going to find out the sex of the baby and therefore knew we would be decorating a gender-neutral nursery. We also both decided that we didn't want to have an overarching theme, but rather go for colors, patterns and a retro/mid-century feel to the room. We painted the room and ordered the furniture all the way back in February. Yeah, we're crazy!

We found this truck at an antique store for $2.50 :) It was one of the first things we bought.
Drawn to the colors and diagonal lines, we bought this music sheet the same day at the same store, also for $2.50. The frame it's in is the same one that we used in the playroom, ones we had on hand.

We ordered this tin mobile on Amazon because we loved the colors and retro feel. We actually ordered two and strung them together to make it look like one bigger mobile.

For a while the nursery felt pretty grown up while we just had the furniture and rug in the room. These letters, which we bought and then painted and sanded to give a worn look, added a more childish feel we thought. And, yes, they're purposefully hung crooked.

Ryan made this piece of furniture. The shelves were actually something he had built years ago to house books and papers. He added the chrome legs that we had leftover from assembling our living room ottoman. It fits perfectly under the window and hides the outlet, plus houses the humidifier and monitor along with books and toys.

The area rug was the second purchase we made after the furniture. We were going for something graphic. We also found this fun patterned under-bed storage piece for blankets and extra bedding.

My sister surprised us at my shower with this custom-made piece for baby. :)

Lately we have been looking for a crib skirt. The selection is mostly limited, especially trying to find one that fits within our color scheme and that does not go all the way to the floor. Plus, some sell for around $70! So, we gave up looking and Ryan folded a sheet we already had to the perfect length and height.
