My friend had a baby in May, but lives out of state and is now coming home for Thanksgiving and a baby shower. I really wanted to learn to crochet so I could make things for myself (like scarves) and others, especially cute infant clothes. Baby Quinn is my guinea pig :)
I followed this pattern. This is only my fourth crocheting project and it was a pretty easy one for beginners!

I felt so accomplished after finishing the hat that I decided to try for a pair of matching booties. This was quite an undertaking. Booties were the very first thing I ever tried to crochet a few months ago, yet after multiple hours and attempts, I ended up with six booties of different shapes and proportions though I followed the same tutorial each time. I stopped crocheting pairs- scarves can have imperfections that go unnoticed.
But ultimately I was convinced that the hat would be so much cuter with the booties.
I got one done on my first attempt and was quite pleased. A couple hours and three attempts later, I came out with another bootie. Yay!
